Privacy policy

Plain-language summary for Australian users. This is not legal advice.

What we are

OurRent is an anonymous, map-based snapshot of listed vs agreed rent and related fields (for example bond, concessions, bidding). We do not run a tenancy advice service.

What you submit

When you add a pin, we store the fields you provide (such as suburb, rent figures, property type, and map coordinates you choose). We do not ask for your name, email, or full street address. Street numbers are not collected as a structured field.

Submissions may be moderated (including being queued or hidden) to reduce spam and obvious errors. Aggregate statistics on the map do not show who submitted a pin.

Technical identifiers

To limit abuse, our servers may derive a short-lived cryptographic hash of your IP address for rate limiting or reporting—this is not used to sell your data or to advertise to you. If operational keys are misconfigured, that hash may not be stored at all.

Optional analytics (for example Vercel Analytics or Plausible, if enabled) help us understand traffic in aggregate. Those tools are configured to minimise personal data where possible.

Hosting & processors

Data is processed and stored using infrastructure such as Vercel and Supabase (and their subprocessors). Those services may be located outside Australia; by using the site you acknowledge that standard cloud processing may involve overseas disclosure as described in their policies.

Base map tiles use OpenStreetMap and Carto—see the Terms of use for full attribution and links.

Community reports

If you report a pin, your note is held for moderators. Public views show only aggregate report counts—not your reasons or identity.

Contact & privacy requests

For privacy questions or data-access requests, use the Feedback link in the map footer (it sits above Privacy and Terms). That opens the feedback form (message stored in our database) or mailto/another URL if this deployment configures one. We may need enough detail to locate records without an account identifier.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated version.
